Syllabus Description:

Kurssikuvaus / Course description:

The course is a continuation to FINN 102. The goal of the course is to deepen your knowledge of the fundamentals of the Finnish language and culture. The course will provide you with more tools to function and communicate in an everyday context. The aim is to both broaden your knowledge and strengthen the elements you have already acquired. You will be able to talk about yourself, your family your home and your personal interests and to discuss daily topics such as food, weather, shopping and travel. You will also be able to understand simple texts. Authentic Finnish materials will be used whenever possible. The course will also include some web based exercises and a video project. Through the communicative approach I hope to achieve a high degree of interaction in the classroom and make your learning of Finnish language and culture enjoyable. We strive for a learning atmosphere that challenges your skills in a supportive way. I expect you to do your best in dealing with the daily topics and classroom speech in Finnish. Remember: there are no wrong answers, only good attempts. Emphasis will be given to all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
