For many years Latvian has been my passion and also my profession.
When I was a kid, I was always reading or writing. My first articles were published in the class paper – though I was not just the only contributor, but also the only reader of it. Later – while studying Baltic linguistics and also learning Czech – I realized that I find it more interesting to translate, rather than write my own text, and I have been doing it for almost 20 years now.
For 15 years I was a CEO of an international language company, and my master degree in business administration from Stockholm School of Economics in Riga was certainly helpful. Few years ago I returned “back to the roots” and now do my PhD research in applied linguistics on Rendering of the Polish, Czech and Slovak Proper Names in Latvian.
I have tought Latvian and Czech in Latvia, and I was also teaching Translation Management course back at my home university. I am also a Latvian teacher in the annual 2x2 youth camp in Latvia.
