The SWEA Seattle Endowment for Excellence in Swedish Studies will provide support to stellar graduate students in the Swedish Studies Program. Recipients who receive support from this fund must be sufficiently fluent in Swedish to present on his/her research at an annual SWEA Seattle meeting.
SWEA, Swedish Women's Educational Association, is a global non-profit organization for Swedish-Speaking women who are, or have been, living abroad. Its mission is to promote Swedish language and culture and to establish a professional and social network around the globe that makes it easier to live abroad. SWEA also supports education with scholarships and many projects with ties to Sweden.
Interested students should submit a letter of application, stating their educational objectives as they relate to the purposes of the Gavel Endowment, along with a current transcript, and two letters of recommendation (one from outside the Department of Scandinavian Studies).
