The Synnøve Lien Fielding Fund has been established to provide support for the Norwegian Program in the Department of Scandinavian Studies. Synnøve Lien Fielding was born in Ålesund, Norway. She settled in the United States in 1974. It is her stated intention that the Fielding Fund provide support for students at the University of Washington to study Norwegian languages and culture. Graduate and Undergraduate students enrolled in the Norwegian program are eligible to apply for support from the Fielding Fund.
Interested students should submit: a letter of application stating the purpose to which the funds are sought; a detailed description of the research or study proposal; an official copy of college transcripts, and; two letters of reference (one letter must be from someone not associated with the Department of Scandinavian Studies). The award will be up to $1,500.
