Undergraduate Programs

Any student at the University of Washington is welcome to take courses in the Department of Scandinavian Studies. We offer a wide range of courses for the student with an occasional interest as well as the student who wishes to major or minor in Scandinavian Studies. The Department offers courses leading to a B.A. degree in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Scandinavian Area Studies, with an Honors program for eligible students.  We also offer minors in Baltic Studies, Scandinavian Area Studies, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, or Swedish.  Visit Undergraduate Programs to learn about the programs and their requirements.

Graduate Programs

For students with an advancecd proficiency in a Scandinavian language and a B.A. degree, the Department offers M.A. degrees in Scandinavian Languages and Literature and in Scandinavian Area Studies, as well as a Ph.D. degree.  Visit the Graduate Programs page for more information.

Courses
