On Friday, Feb. 16th, Jan Krogh Nielsen was advanced to PhD Candidacy in Scandinavian Studies.
Pictured here with chair of Scandinavian Studies, Andrew Nestingen, as well as with members of his supervisory committee, Professor Emerita Lotta Gavel Adams and Professor Marianne Stecher.
Jan is completing a dissertation which explores Levinasian Ethics in Modern Scandinavian Prose; his study reads modern Scandinavian literature (the works of P.O. Enquist, Knut Hamsun, and Villy Sørensen) through the lens of the ethical philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas and tests the question of whether a Levinasian criticism of literature is possible.
Congratulations, Jan!
