The Baltic Program this fall has 15 students studying Estonian, Latvian, or Lithuanian language, and many more enrolling in courses about the history, culture, and politics of the three countries. The governments of Lithuania and Latvia continue to jointly fund the two lectureships held by Dr Gina Holvoet and Līga Miklašēviča, and graduate student Fred "Grex" Rahuoja continues to teach Estonian while working toward his master's degree. Guntis Šmidchens nowadays wears two hats, as teacher of Baltic and North European folklore, culture, history and politics and also as Director of the Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies in the Jackson School of International Studies.
Wishing all our friends a Merry Christmas,
