The musical and literary program "RIT" will be performed at the UW Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center and Theater on Thursday 27 October 2022 at 7PM. Admission is free.

“RIT” is a musical program featuring the poetry of Norwegian poet Olav H. Hauge as performed by Norwegian artists Reidun Horvei (voice) and Inger-Kristine Riber (keyboard and composition). The poems in this song cycle follow the seasons of the year at the same time that they mark developments in Hauge’s poetry and in his personal life.

An introduction to the program and the poet, Olav H. Hauge, will be given by Katherine Hanson. Hanson collaborated with Horvei and Riber on the creation of “RIT” which had its premiere at the Ulvik Poetry Festival September 5, 2021. Over the following six weeks “RIT” was performed 25 times throughout Western Norway. Hanson is  affiliate associate professor of Scandinavian Studies. Her translations of Hauge's poetry were recognized in 2021 with Amboltprisen (The Anvil Award), a bi-annual award conferred upon someone who has made an outstanding contribution to knowledge and appreciation of Olav H. Hauge's work.
