Biography
Andy Meyer is assistant teaching professor in the Scandinavian Studies Department at the University of Washington, where he teaches Norwegian language and Scandinavian literature and culture courses. He holds a Ph.D. in English from the UW and has taught in a variety of educational settings, including the University of Washington's English Department and Program on the Environment, independent high schools in Seattle, the Nordic Studies Department at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and the Norwegian Department at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. His research interests are primarily ecocritical and engage questions about the idea of wilderness, especially in literature of the American West and the American and Scandinavian Arctic, as well as in poetry and poetics.
