Hans Christian Andersen and Henrik Ibsen are pillars of the Danish and Norwegian national literary canons. Their place as literary geniuses is established. But, how do these figures relate to the contemporary literature of Scandinavia? My dissertation asks, how does contemporary literarture characterize Hans Christian Andersen and Henrik Ibsen as literary geniuses? This project examines texts from 2000 to the present day to study how Andersen and Ibsen are conceptualized as geniuses.
